The Human Service Zone provides eligibility programs, child welfare services and programs for the aged, mentally, and/or physically disabled.

The role of the Human Service Zone for eligibility programs is to determine eligibility for financial assistance to low income individuals and families including eligibility for food stamps, fuel assistance, temporary assistance to needy families, child care assistance, basic care and Medicaid programs.

Child Welfare programs include child protection, case management, foster care for children, parent aide services, prime time childcare services,, children’s special health services and referral services.

The Adult Services include case management (assessment, developing a care plan, authorizing and monitoring services) for clients that are elderly and/or disabled.

The Buffalo Bridges Human Service Zone board meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 11:00 AM. Every third meeting is held in the Barnes County Courthouse in Valley City.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to:
